Conclusion:
The most important reason for Stalin’s rise was his manipulations. He effectively used his position as SecretaryGeneral to increase his own power base while undermining that of his opponents at the same time. In addition,
he effectively manipulated ideological divisions within the Party by allying himself to different sides, according to the situation. His ability to exploit favourable circumstances such as the non-disclosure of Lenin’s testament to
keep his position in the party, from which he furthered his power, and the weaknesses of his competitors that really contributed to his success in being the next leader of Soviet Union.
