What is Acceleration?
It is the rate of change of velocity.

  • A vector quantity (i.e. has both magnitude and direction)
  • SI unit: metre per second per second (m s⁻²)

What is Deceleration?
There is acceleration when velocity increases or decreases over time. For an object whose velocity decreases over time, we can say that it is undergoing deceleration or retardation.
